WHO ARE KALENJINS?

By Apostle William K Korir;

The Kalenjins are very humble loving people who live in the larger Rift Valley Province. This people are extremely generous; and welcome people to their homes and interact with them easily. visitors visiting Kalenjin homes would be surprised at warmth this community exhudes. To the Northern part of Rift Valley lives; the Pokots (Kimukoniek), Marakwets, Keiyos, Sengwer, Tugens (Five groups), The Sabouts (koony). Nandis and Kipsigis to the Southern Rift.

The Kalenjins are hard working people and are spread in the country's food Basket where 99% of the maize in the country is grown. They are good people and they are tolerant and patient people. They can witstand provokation for long duration and they are God fearing people.

Looked at it positively; all are convinced that what I 'am saying is true indeed. They are faithful people and reliable to work with. They are people of high intergrity and respectful. They are honest people who keeps their promises to the letter.

Kalenjin are not closed and they freely intermarry with other communities.

There are striking stories that when a Kalenjin found money on the way in villages - say Kshs. 100,000.00; he or she would take it to the chief to carry out investigation. and true - the people who lost valuable items used to find it intact.

Kalenjin defended their interest with passion, due to their courage.

Most of them are dark skin while the Nandis and Kipsigis are light skin.
